Swim with
the largest fish on earth!
T he Island of Isla Holbox is 3 hours from Puerto Aventuras, just off the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. This is one of the very few places in the world that you can observe and actually swim with the extraordinary Whale Shark during their annual migration. The encounters are practically guaranteed at Isla Holbox from mid June through early September.
Whale Sharks are normally seen feeding at the surface so you can easily view them from the boat or snorkel along side them. This is a terrific opportunity to get “up close and personal” with the largest fish in the world without even putting on Scuba gear!
It is not uncommon to also see dolphins enthusiastically swimming beside the boat or Flamingos and Pelicans along the shoreline because Isla Holbox is a protected nature preserve.

| Excursion Itinerary |
• Air conditioned van departs your hotel before daybreak for the 3 hr van ride to Chiquila.
• Upon arrival at Chiquila, you will board a ten passenger boat for a brief transport to the Island of Isla Holbox. After check in, approximately 1 hr ride to the site where the Whale Sharks feed. Your boat has shade, drinks, and snacks on board.
• Snorkelers are allowed to enter the water in pairs to swim alongside the feeding Whale Sharks who basically ignore the presence of people. You will have approximately 2 hours to swim with these magnificant creatures, so don’t forget your camera! (Video camera restrictions require prearranged permits and additional fees. Please inquire in advance).
• Afterwards, you will be taken to a charming beachside restaurant on Isla Holbox for a late lunch then depart by boat to Chiquila for your return van ride to Puerto Aventuras. You’ll be back in time for dinner!
